My NHS Choices interview - Parkrun and C25K :-)

Hi all!

Steven who is one of the admins on HU interviewed me for a NHS choices article. Here is the article he wrote:

Great article :) if that doesn't persuade people to start the programme nothing will! Hope Ramadan is going well and the long fasts haven't been too hard :)

Thanks! Ramadan is going well. After the first few days the body adjusts, I've had a very busy period at work too and that makes the days pass quickly!

Enjoyable article and a good advert for c25k and park runs. Well done ;)

Aftab, you are now a bona fide NHS C25k legend. You have done us proud and made yourself into a brilliant role model for your family and now the population at large. I considered you for our poster, but your achievements may seem too extreme to those who have not yet got off the couch. More power to you, more power to C25k.

Keep running, keep smiling.

Thanks and you are being far too kind.

Really good to read your story in full Aftab, it's inspiring not just because of your amazing times but because of the change it has made to your life. Congratulations to your dad on his PB too!

Hi Aftab, thanks for linking in that interview - what an amazing journey you've had. Great times for park run and you've lost so much weight. I'm running my first park run tomorrow and I'll draw inspiration from your story.

Thanks! I've added a before and after photo to the post to show the weight loss. Enjoy your Parkrun and hopefully it is the first of many!

That is a fantastic article and very inspiring. I think it's great you wear your c25k at events to promote the programme.

Thanks! All the regulars at Barking Parkrun see the C25K shirt as my uniform!

Hi Aftab. :-)

In all my weeks here I seem to have missed your posts, though I have heard of you. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, sir! :-)

That article is excellent and a real inspiration; surely, if your story doesn't motivate people then not a great deal will! A tremendous ambassador you are for both Parkrun and C25K. :-)

Thanks Miles! I'm not as prolific blogger as I was a year ago but I try to post once a week when I can. I'm currently on a short hiatus because I am fasting during the month of Ramadan but I'll be back and blogging in a few weeks time. Hopefully you won't miss the posts then!

I love your Before and After pics! What a transformation! Well done Aftabs and the programme

It might be a suitable place to remind peeps that they can enter Parkruns under the team name of NHS C25k. I entered my first race, and my second one as a member of team NHS C25k! I'll continue to do so and get us more publicity, hopefully

Thank you and I chose the NHS C25K running club when I registered for Parkrun too.

What an inspiring article. Love the before and after photos, not just for the slimmer you in the after one but the happiness and health emanating from you.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing! I'm off to register for my local Parkrun now - feeling all inspired. Good luck for future endeavours!

Well done Aftab. Best wishes on your Ramadan and your return to running afterwards.
