Steamy specs!

Can anyone advise me please on how to stop my sunglasses misting up? I have very sensitive eyes and wear my shades even if it's over cast. I suppose a towelling headband might do it, but someone PLEASE tell me there's another way lol

I bought cheap ones to run but can't wear them as always mist up But my expensive prescription sunglasses glasses are fine to run with - no misting at all ! Don't understand it So running with prescription sunglasses glasses and fingers crossed they don't fall off or I trip and break them

I can't say that I have had this problem as yet even though I wear sunglasses most runs for the same reason. I would suggest either a different style or get running sun glasses.

You can get anti-misting spray I think. Used mainly for prescription swimming goggles but no reason you shouldn't use it on your sunnies. Or maybe you could try a quick squirt to WD40. That's a water repellant isn't it?

I just swim with normal googles - blobs are people move out of their way. Though it's always interesting the first time at a new pool. First there is the navigating from changing room to pool side, then there is working out which is the shallow end when you can't see the sign and depending on the length of the pool and the position of the (thankfully massive) clock working out the optimum point on a lap that I can see the time lol

Don't wear prescription goggles myself but daughter no.1 so short sighted that as a child she wouldn't go in the water at all without them. Couldn't see anything so too scared to let go of the side. She swims like a fish now in prescription goggles.

Aaah I wasn't shortsighted as a child so just got used to swimming becoming ever more fuzzy. I miss my old private gym, I used to wear my glasses to the poolside then change to googles, there was always somewhere safe for me to leave them

I wear glasses when running although I haven't experienced such a problems yet. However, I used to ride motorbikes and I used an anti-misting spray on the visor which worked well, I'm sure it can also be used on glasses etc. I also had an anti-misting cloth which was handy to wipe the visor.

You can get special frames with vents to stop misting. I got these for driving and use them when running too.

Thanks all, off to research anti-mist sprays and cloths. I thought a peaked cap might keep the sun out of my eyes as well..

If a peaked cap makes your head to hot, try just a visor. (Think golf!) the peak really cuts the glare. I recon it might be the style of the sunglasses that might be causing your mist up, try a different style if you have a pair to hand. I wear transition lenses but the lenses are quite small (due to increasing prescription!) and I get the light nipping in around the sides and from above. I have also had the misting problem but only twice, and that was on cool mornings, it's most annoyjng! So if your anti mist cloth/spray works then please share!

My huge sunglasses that wrap around mist up terribly but they have less airflow through if that makes sense, trouble is they are my best option as they cover a large area and really don't allow glare in anywhere, but when I wear them they often end up perched on top of my head which really is no good for optically challenged very light sensitive little me. I generally I just wear my normal reactions glasses that don't really go dark enough all my other sunglasses are now too strong a prescription.

When buying sunglasses make sure there is enough room for air flow, if you want more of a wrap around encase your eyes effect then look for ones with vents. Another option would be to get a peak, not a full on hat just the peak, I've thought about it but I think I would still find it too hot, I'm not very good with heat.

Easy solution. Clean them with a drop of liquid dish soap ( I use Dawn) no water. Just wipe clean. It leaves a thin film that you can't see but will prevent fogging.

I wipe them on my vest. I park my specs on the top of my head and whenever I need them they are steamed up. Drat the things!

Gonna try that washing up liquid trick. ATM I'm running in my prescription sun glasses, hoping that later when I'm just doing longer runs, I won't need to fiddle with my phone... the podcasts keep stopping so I need to see to re-start them...
