Running in London...sort of...

Had an unscheduled run in London yesterday. I was meeting friends and going to a little 'Audience with..' type show.

I should have gone out for a run on Saturday morning but had to be somewhere just after 11:00 and couldn't force myself out early. Sooo, just to pay me back for my laziness, I woke up yesterday with my left calf muscle going into spasm. I can't begin to describe the pain!! It's the first time for a while that it's happened, had a spell a year or so ago when it was quite regular.

Anyway, a day in London, something to be enjoyed, pain or no pain, so off I went on Megabus to Victoria. Of course, we got stuck in traffic just as we got to Kensington and I knew I was going to be late meeting my friends, so when we arrived, instead of walking to Charing Cross, I thought, 'Blow it I'll jog...' which I did, carrying a handbag and carrier bag of birthday presents! Got to Victoria Terminus in one go, then jog/walked the rest of the way, through St James Park which was fab, and met them at Embankment. I've always fancied running through the London Parks, and along the Embankment, but this wasn't quite how I envisioned it!!

Luckily, calf was fine although it's still a bit sore today - didn't prevent my run this morning though!

Very impressive - did you 'just happen' to have your running shoes with you - or was it a subconscious plan?

Wasn't wearing running shoes - was in jeans and shoes!! It was a case of getting to the theatre in time, which I knew would take 35 minutes at my normal walking pace. So, if I could run a bit, I'd get there quicker - did it in 20!
