Absolutely fabulous 6km run!

I am on such a high!!! Today I have completed the Ebersberg Stadtlauf (Ebersberg Town run).

This is the first time I have run (a) in heavy rain, (b) in a race (200+ people) and (c) 6 kms and the really best bit is that I did it in a new record of 40mins 50 sec, i.e. under 7mins/km. I would never have thought that possible for me in so many ways 10 weeks ago when I started the c25k program.

This was the second of three challenges I set myself, i.e. to complete the course without having to walk, and I did that as well.

The race was so much fun. We were all in "party mood" on the start line and desperately trying to keep warm. See the link here (ebersberger-stadtlauf.de/) if you want to see the details of the run, but note the photos are still to be uploaded. The support from the townspeople was great all the way around the course even in the rain and it really picks you up. I was desperate not to start too fast and keep to my own pace. I didn't want to end up regreting it later if I ran out of puff! As it was, I think I did alright and ended up in position 70 out of 88 for the 6km run. (There is also a 10km run).

I am going to have a huge smug grin on my face now for at least a week. Lol!

I am also going to have to find where I can do this again now. It is just a brilliant feeling. :D

Thanks Carole. There was another picture taken slightly before this one when I was still heaving but we'll gloss over that one. ;) I am looking forward to doing it again....

Woohoo! Well done and a great time! Here's to many more!

Fantastic and well done. Look at that medal and that huge smile :) Very well done and a great achievement.

PS I see you didn't get one of those rain hat/umbrellas I linked to ;)

I had not enough time to get one unfortunately. Besides the way the rain was coming down I am not sure it would have made that much of a difference Paul. Good luck with your 5k in 30 mins challenge btw.
