First road run!

I have completed my first out door run. I have completed all runs up until this one on a treadmill. I am not sure what my pace was but I completed the run and feel great! I went back two runs to one I know have already completed, as I was really worried about running outside. I have a 5km event in two weeks so really need to be outdoors.

Whoop whoop! Good for you! I have a treadmill but too scared to run on it - afraid of falling off! Haha! I really enjoy running outside - it's sort of liberating (especially for the ex-couch potato that I was!) :-)

I am really enjoying jogging, although I tried a different route tonight and didn't do as well :( still completed though :) thank you for your support :)

That's brilliant! I am just playing around with different routes at the moment and enjoying the freedom of it all! They have just tarmac'd part of a track where I live so that will be less gravelly underfoot :-D good luck with your next run! It is so enjoyable and addictive isn't it! :-)

Well done Net68! Running outside is great (even if you're having to dodge cars now and again). I don't like treadmills too much because it's not like being outside and unless you know how to programme the more technical models you don't get the same effect as hills, headwinds etc.

I'm sure that you'll be fine for your event, and getting outside now is a good idea. I was out yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks after an achilles problem and only meant to do around 5 miles (I have a halfmarathon next week) but ended out doing 10 instead. The glorious sunshine got me carried away.

Welcome to the world of running in the great outdoors! The sun on your back, the wind in your hair, the spray from oily puddles as a van passes just a little too close.... I wouldn't have it any other way. You'll love it.
