Do fitted insoles help with knee problems?

I have arthritic knees so am being careful with them (RICE etc after runs). Lately they have become worse and i wonder if i am doing more harm than good with running. I don't really want to give it up if i can help it and wondered if anyone has an opinion on tailor made insoles and whether they help. Or if there are any suggestions for dealing with arthritic knees. All suggestions welcome!

I don't have arthritis so can't give you any feedback about that but I did get a pair of those insoles when I started to have some aches and pains. They didn't seem to make a difference and I still ended up in physio! They're now languishing in a drawer somewhere! Could you get to a physio and ask her/his advice?
