Week 1 Run 3... Still feel not ready

Today I did my third run of the week. However, it didn't turns out as great as the other two runs. During my run I felt some stitches. Is there a technique for breathing at a recovery walk? I am not ready to move on until I got use to the breathing :( because I feel it will be troublesome later on. Any tips?

That sounds right! I haven't been drinking enough water so I guess that is why I felt like that today. I will just start carrying a water bottle then! I hope I can do a repeat on Sunday once I got use to drinking more water! Thank you :)

When I ran in my youth, my coach told me that when you get a stitch, concentrate on breathing out and landing on your stitch side foot at the same time.

It did seem to work for me in the past. Luckily (fingers crossed, touch wood, etc...) I haven't had a stitch on this course.

Good luck with the runs. You can do it!!!

You can get stitch with all the movement around your waist area. Also you need to make sure your food has gone down before you go out running. I leave it about an hour after food before venturing out to run.

If you find you get stitch, you can - as Laura says - "run tall". Imagine you're trying to see over the horizon. The stretching up seems to help. I think we can get quite hunched and tense when we run, from the exertion of it. Running tall seems to relax things. I imagine I am trying to peer over a tall hedge. Laura has a little video clip on the Couch to 5 k website about stitch etc, so have a look at that
