Feeling good about this so far, never thought I'd get to week 5, can feel such a difference already!
Scared about the 20 minute run though! Have people found it to be a huge step up at end of week 5?

I did the week 5 run about two years ago (even though I am now starting over and enjoying week 2). I was scared about it at the time, and also concerned about the subsequent long runs. The advice I got at the time was to take them as they come, not think ahead about them, and trust the program.
I was sooooo amazed when the first 20 minute run came and I could totally do it! Gimpy ol' me - running!
You will be so amazed with yourself, and deservedly proud. Just relax into it, and try not to worry about any of the runs before their time.
It really helps me to see it this way; although there is a set program with specific goals, I am there to do my best, whatever that is. Sometimes I may not quite make it, and that doesn't mean I can't do it next time, or that I am not getting full benefit from the program. Reducing the pressure to succeed helped me lower my anxiety, which in turn made it more enjoyable, and also helped me get out of my own way - so that I really did do well and overcome each hurdle.
Happy Running! You'll be great.
Thank you! that's such a reassuring post to read! I think I'm a little guilty of reading ahead what I'll be doing next then getting the fear over being able to do it! Hope it's all going well for you?
I psyched myself up for this run and was determined to do it. It wasn't as hard as I'd imagined it to be. I am on week 6 now and found the run/walk more difficult in week 6!
i'm sure you will surprise yourself! i was very disbelieving that such a big leap in time would be achievable but it was ! keep your focus and believe in yourself, somehow this programme really does work! and you feel GREAT afterwards!
Hi kittykat, yes I can't believe I can now run for 5 whole minutes! Especially 3 times! I felt sick running week 1 and never thought I'd get here! I'm doing run 2 tomorrow night and hopefully run 3 Sunday! Like you I'm excited and nervous at same time! Let me know how you get on!
As you just reminded us that you felt sick on week one - remember that and see just how far you have progressed. It does seem a big jump to a 20 minute run at the end of W5 but it is achievable - just take it slow and steady and don't feel under pressure. Good luck and best wishes for the rest of W5.
I'm doing W5R1 tonight. I've tried to do this podcast a couple or three times over the last couple of years and the furthest I got was W4 but this time I am determined. A bit nervous about it but going to give it my best shot
Hi KittyKat - it did go well. I have now completed the last run of week 5 - running for 20 minutes straight! Treated myself to a creme egg afterwards as a reward A few weeks ago I never would have been able to do that - it feels great, although my calves feel a little tight this morning Looking forward to starting week 6!
Absolutley! You deserve it
