I've just completed my first race. A 10k in aid of Wakefield hospice and it was brilliant. I managed 1hr 16minutes which for a 61 nearly 62 year old grandma ain't too shabby. I took the advice of experienced runners and didn't set off too fast and a lot of people who passed me struggled , and I passed them later on so the best advice, pace yourself. I thouroughly enjoyed it and although it wasn't about speed it was nice not to be last. Bring on the next one can't wait !
Achy, tired but happy after my first race. - Couch to 5K
Achy, tired but happy after my first race.
Fantastic result for you! WELL DONE GRANDMA! You deserve to feel really chuffed with yourself - I'm sure you are!
Good luck for the next ones!
That's fantastic , congratulations & well done
Thank you I'm still buzz in
Fantastic. Well done. Bottle that feeling!!
Thanks it was very emotional, grandson cheering me over the line and me with goosebumps and tears in my eyes, didn't cry but nearly, hopefully next run goosebumps but no tears, nice feeling though
That's put a massive smile on my face, well done I can only hope to do as well as you in July when I have my first 10k booked. Congratulations and thank you for sharing that with us.
Thank you. Just pick a goal and go for it. I started running last June then had to stop sept til Jan due to angina scare and lost motivation a bit. So I found a race so it spurred me on and it got me training again. I only wanted to finish but got the bug now and I'm looking for my next race so pick your goal and aim for it any things achievable even at my age.
That is excellent, well done! x
Wahay. Go Grannies! Let's here it for us old girls. Whoop whoop
Go us!!!!!
Bloomin' heck thats amazing! Well done. And that is sage advice - start slowwwwww and keep some fuel in the tank for a glorious finish!
Brilliant. well done. my last 10k was 1hr 39, so looking forward to reducing time at my next in May
Thank you I'm sure you will I didn't know what to expect , there are so many runners and when people thunder past you its a bit daunting but the advise I followed was don't try to keep up with the big boys! Stick to your own pace and when your near the finish pick someone in front to catch, it doesn't matter if you don't but it gives you focus and it helped me speed up at the end and it shouldn't be so overwhelming next time
Well done, a well deserved success. Enjoy a decent rest now and pamper yourself. With very best wishes.
Wow! 10k! Brilliant at any age but more impressive of a Grandma. Well done. Super job xxx
Congratulations!
Really lovely post and a great time! I did a 10k today as well; 63 mins so you weren't far off me at all and I'm half your age! Serious respect to you; you're an inspiration!
