Wk3R1 done - tired but happy!

Well, it appears I can run for 3 minutes without dying - in fact without too much trouble physically at all. I even felt I could have done more at the end of the session. But for the first time afterwards throughout the day and evening I felt really tired and achy. I'm guessing that's normal and after an excellent night sleep I feel good as new.

W3R2 tomorrow and nowhere near as nervous as I was before R1....... but R3 brings a new challenge. We work away around the country at Game and Equestrian events and Saturday will be my first 'away' run. Whilst I revel at the thought of being able to enjoy some of Britains finest country estates on my runs, I've become accustomed to my home route and am worried that stressing about finding a new route will take away my focus.

Any tips from you pro's?

Not really, I'm afraid. Perhaps you could research the places with Google maps before you go, so you have a rough idea?

Thanks Steve - yes I've done that but it's not always possible to see which areas are accessible as they're private estates. I know them all quite well so have a rough idea. I think I've just become conditioned to running on pavements!

I don't think you'll find it too much harder running on real ground - I was pleasantly surprised at Saturday's Parkrun.

Are you staying in a B&B or hotel? I bet someone somewhere will be a runner or will be able to advise you where to run. You could search for running clubs and phone ahead. I bet they'll have plenty of routes! Failing that, lots of those big estates have perfect running opportunities - just around the grounds!

That's my plan Irishprincess, we stay on site within the grounds of the estates, so I just need to step out of the door. It's just knowing which parts are out of bounds and not having to think about it too much - just thinking about running is enough at this early stage! Thanks for the advice :-)

find out if there is a parkrun nearby. If so you could run the course even if you don't want to do the run.
