Bums, speed and a panther in training...

Out of the door at 5.30 this morning...

My Plan:

do 2 lots of speed in a 10k sandwich

Do my old 10k route ( low rapist risk due to sun coming up earlier)...its in the middle of nowhere!!

test run my new bum bag

The execution:

Swig a quick berrocca and ate some of my mothers day chocolates ( I got my dates wrong!)

So I started the podcast as soon as I left...really big hill for 2 of the intervals and I felt good. There was that fine rain that is so cold but I warm up quickly. It felt fab to be pounding along and pushing myself. I had a gap just running then fired up Laura again at 7k to push me to the end. That helps because she sets the pace well, and I managed 4 of the intervals before finishing...The bum bag was fab and it didn't bounce around..it clearly spurred me on!!

Drum roll:

I did it in 57 mintes....OH F*** thats 2 and a bit minutes off my PB....Very happy start to the day...

Announcement:

On the 22nd April I am starting some C25K coaching for my daughter and very good friend and her family. They chose our team name....JUICY JUNIORS!!!!!!

So I got my gorgeous girl ( shes 9) all kitted up at the weekend thanks to SD ( she even chose a sweatband)...We just did W1 run 1 as a practice to try out the kit. She loved it and we held hands and giggled...I am so excited about the team...if anyone wants to join us here or virtually I will make it work and its going to be so much fun,

Happy Panthering everyone and enjoy your running :)

Well done JJ - no way would I be up at 5 30. And you just keep knocking those minutes off.

I always love your posts, and well done on the 10k time. Those are figures I can only dream of.

You clearly love punishing your body. I mean 5:30 am, that is the time only for milkmen and TV presenters.

Thank you... Geoff had already come ( 2 pints) and sadly I didn't see any hot TV presenters!

Out the door at 5:30? Know the name of your milkman? Are panthers semi-nocturnal?

Great time though JJ and a huge jump in your PB. Keep it up (I need the inspiration).

Your so good at getting up and at them. I like early morning training but am not good that early. Training sounds like it's going really well. More recruits fantastic, I am sure those little cubs will come On Leaps and bounds under your supervision. Happy panthering.

Thank you... I'm very excited, and I'm better at it in the morning than the evening!!!

Yeah for good example mothering! Can't imagine what life would have been like if my mother had taken up running in the 70s when the idea of running for fitness came along!

I do know a woman who wrote a book about running and fitness for women back then. She is doing fine and dandy now near 80 having run for decades. Works as a docent leading bird walks and (gulp!) snakewalks in a National Park in the desert of Arizona.

It does work doesn't it..my mum did start too and she's going to carry on in the summer ( I don't remember anyone running in the 70's??)

I lived in the US, and i recall running becoming a thing in 76 or 77.

Just double-checked. Her first book on womens fitness was published in 77, and it was developed in response to the trend.

Great blog, and great to see you are putting a team together. I am working on Mrs. B. to give it another go. Like most of us did she doesn't relish the thought of running. It is hard to persuade her to try again, and 'find the fun'.

Great 10K time, and a great improvement to get it. Well done

wow, wow, wow. Well done :-) amazing time. Have fun with the coaching - let us know how it goes.
