Just completed W4R3 not my best run of the week dead leg syndrome but concerned as was running down hill on run 2 and my knees have ached since , now avoideing any downhill at mo , as dad also warned me about downhill running and joint pressure (former marathon runner of 30 years packed in cos of shift work and now knee damage) took it easier but still aching today after run and mild pain when pressure on them had a long soak and gonna take it easy , but scared I'm loving this and knees don't, I'm just hoping it was a stupid mistake on run 2 and if I take easy will sort themselves and I'll get to be more careful in future !!!

I had problems with several dislocations in my teenage years so I am very careful with them. I am only on week 3 and wore my knee bandages in bed last night so I can still do my run today :/

If they are still sore rest them. I ran on with a sore knee and have been forced to have over a week off the programme cos I ended up hardly able to walk never mind run. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice guys , haven't run since this post resting it up hoping to be ok for tomorrow to start week 5 and I'm going to start doing the knee exercises too

RICE is the answer in the short term. Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. If the problem persists, go to the doc or physio. I had knee problems for years whilst I was hill walking, and before I started running, but a trip to the physio sorted it out. I can now run, walk, hop, skip, jump....you get the idea, without any pain.

I would suggest that you keep knees warm, and never run bare-legged if it is cold.

I had bad knees for 20 years but this running program has helped nearly eliminate the pain. I also realised that whenever I sat or lay down is used to cross my legs. not over the knee but always put my right foot over my left. I've stopped that now and it seems to help me.

Me too since you said it I'm trying to sit and sleep without adding pressure to it, bad habit I need to change !!!

I'd be interested to see if it works for you. I'm so pleased with my knees I hope you notice a difference.

I think it's made a difference combined with resting it til it healed, still hard to remind myself not to sit like that ha ha but I think it's really helped xx
