I find it helps me when I can listen / read books on the subject I am immersing myself in. I am listening to the audio book of "Running Like a Girl" but it is not really
doing it for me! Happy to try some others!

Scott Jurek's "Eat and Run: My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness" was reccomened to me by others on this forum and I'm really enjoying it at the moment.
I am waiting for 'Running with the Pack' by Mark Rowlands to be delivered. I will report back when I have read it. On audio book, I am listening to 'Running with the Kenyons' by Adharanand Finn which I am really enjoying. I did quite like 'Running like a Girl' but prefer something a bit more philosophical!
I just downloaded Fast Exercise - book by Michael Moseley (he of Fast diet fame) which presents a view that we can get away with very short but sharp bursts of exercise and gain the same benefits as major running. i am currently reading Running for Fitness by Owen Barder which I am finding useful for information about eating too. It is aimed more at women. Run your butt off by Sarah Lorge Butler also helps with food matters, as does Running Sucks by Jennifer Jolan and Rich Bryda. It gives 5 minute exercises, How to lose weight etc.
I don't think I will ever get to Marathon stage so my choice have books relates to weight and fitness issues rather than just the running skills.
Years ago I remember seeing my dad reading a book on running, and when I picked it up was rewarding and thinking that doesn't sound too complicated. It was by Jeff Galloway but sory I don't recall the title. It was old school way of hard work and sweat, but that's what its all about for me..... In fact I'm going to look on Amazon for it.
If you're into the whole martial arts or spiritual energy thing I'd recommend Chi Running by Danny Dreyer. It goes through a few tai chi theories and methodologies and explains how to apply them to running for greater stamina etc. Mostly it goes through how to approach running, how to pace yourself and good posture but I enjoyed the read.
