Did my first run of 5 k graduate this eve and first time ever after15 mins I could not carry on the only thing I did have a Macdonalds 2hours earlier ? Should I do another week of 5kw9 ?
Should I carry on with week 9 of couch to 5 k ... - Couch to 5K
Should I carry on with week 9 of couch to 5 k for a bit
I don't think you need to repeat the run unless you have a hankering to hear Laura again! I think most people have a bad run every now and then, and it's often hard to pin down a reason for it. Is it possible that you set off too fast, that used to get me fairly regularly when I was a recent graduate, I'm getting better at pacing myself now
A runner eating Macdonalds!! Oh no!!!
You will always get bad runs or bad days ~ I find that they generally get followed by a good one. Here's hoping.
it was a one off treat ! and lovely it was to :0
Nothing wrong with a bit of what you like, but why not make your own burgers? We started doing them a few years ago, and they are SOOOOO good. We even have burger making evenings with the Scout group we lead ~ ewww, I sound so sad saying I'm a Scout leader. Never mind, we're taking them to Skye and Knoydart this summer.
You can do another few runs that way or move on to the C25k+ three podcasts. I still alternate the three on my three runs a week and I graduated a year ago!
I think it proves that a McDonald's is too stodgy before a run. Maybe something a bit lighter next time and enjoy a Mac on one of your rest days. Good luck with your post graduate running. Best wishes.
Went for run 2nite and struggled I have done every week no worries and can get there this week going to try again in the morning but at a slower pace maybe
Don't forget your rest days
I used W9 a few times after I graduated, just to get confident at doing the 30 minutes, then moved onto the C25K+ podcasts. Sometimes (apart from just having an unexplained bad run) you just need a change - of route or music (try listening to your own), etc. Stick at it, but don't overdo it!
thats what i did this morning took a different route and what a difference !!! i shall take a day of rest now but i had to go and prove to myself that i could do it , so feel much better about it now thanks for all your support feeling
It was probably because of the food in your tummy...did you 'go large'???
Well done, and as others have said, I'm sure your next run will be better..
I think it comes down to the individual, but I know that if I've eaten within a few hours before running, I'm not at my best. I run a lot easier before a meal rather than after one. Otherwise, as has been said, you might just have had a bad run. See how it goes next time
