1st Post graduation run.........and " i survived"

Well, i've been out on my 1st post graduation run!!

Today has been not all that exciting, i've had only the customers to keep me company(no work colleague today), the highlight of the day was sitting out on the decking for lunch(hooray!) and sharing a piece of date and walnut cake with my friend Clair:) So after a annoying drive home(tractors, people not indicating, reversing without warning!) i was not in the most positive mood :( But should i go out as planned? Of course said my partner(he'd cycled to work and back and was just off to badminton.............

So to the echo of me"don't be disappointed if theres nothing nice for tea" we both set off in our respective cars...

Went to my new favourite route along the prom seafront, decided to start the garmin when i started running rather than include walk, to see how far the run amounted to! The wind was in my face, but i was trying out my "rockmyrun" download that i'd only used twice before and set off.... great tunes!! did a bit of a sing along when there were no passers by! quite liberating! Only a few dog walkers and joggers out tonight:) -legs were a bit sore on my calves (they usually are) and also i had forgotten to do any stretches :( Got to the pier which is my halfway point and swung round my marker pole to the tune"I will survive" very apt!! How lovely the wind was behind me now:) heading back to the car, the seafront looked very pretty all lit up(must take a pic next time!) Nearly there... pulled down vest over bum as people approaching and threw my mp3 on the pavement so had to stop for a second on the last bit:( humbug! But soon got going again and got right to the end of prom! looked at watch 30.12 mins running-YEY! only 4.34 k but my av per km was only 2 secs off Saturdays graduation run!

Returned in much better mood and have now managed to make a half decent dinner, a relief all round!

So my 2nd minus Laura run was ok after all!!! I'm going to try some post c25k stepping stone runs at end of week tho!

Happy running everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Well done on getting out there after a frustrating drive home. Running along the seafront sounds wonderful - especially to this city dweller. I'm interested to read you have a garmin. I'm wondering whether to treat myself but I'm just about to start Wk 7 so maybe I should wait for my graduation.

Yes the seafront was a good place to go last night :) My garmin is a foreunner 10, quite a basic model but easy to use and not too bulky, and also not a bad price. I would definitely recommend it , really good for motivation! I got mine in week 8..........

Hi lovely post, it sounds fab running along the prom.

Hi Aliboo sounds like you had a good run. I cant believe we have done it, can you? I did the stepping stone podcast this morning and really enjoyed that. It was good to have Laura back again- she does know how to keep me on track! I really enjoyed it this morning, I didn't get breathless or red in the face- that's a first for me. Maybe the cool start to the day helped, I don't know it just all felt so much better. Keep posting Aliboo, I love to hear how you are getting on and your seafront runs sound great. x

Its a bit surreal! :) Well done on your run, sounds like good progress! I think you're right, it does seem to be a little easier as the weeks go by. Might try and see if i can transfer the podcast on to my MP3 in a min, tech stuff doesn't always go to plan tho! Having a nice rest tonight, legs a bit achy today! Just over indulged in finishing off last few chocs from box feel a bit sickly!!! :(
