First parkrun and I was speedy!

Well speedy for me. Had a lovely first park run. It was cold and a wee bit frosty but the sun was shining and the sky was blue. Met fitfor60 and wilmacgh which was a real treat. Came in at 486 out of 523 runners but I did it in 33mins and 2 seconds, which is almost a minute and half quicker than my previous personal best.

Am so chuffed to have done it, really enjoyed the whole experience of running with so many other folk. Can't wait til the next time my yoga class is cancelled on a Saturday morning so I can go to parkrun again!

Thanks I really enjoyed it, it is a lovely setting which helps too, along the side of the river Forth looking over to Fife. Beautiful on a sunny day.

Well done! Sounds like a super-speedy group of people at that parkrun though. With that time, I'm sure you'd be significantly further up the field in lots of other places!

Thanks . I was meeting people coming back before I'd got a quarter way along. It's good though, the fact there ere are a fair few really speedy runners ( between 16 and 18 minutes) means the group were well spread out so I think everyone has room to run easily despite the fact there were 523 runners.

So who is the 4th person? A bit of detective work required I think...

I am the 4th person. Last year I was very doubtful if I would ever manage a parkrun but they are good fun but I have to be careful not to get swept along too fast at the start. Having seen Wilma's photo- I will look out for you! I am glad lizziebeth enjoyed it yesterday- well done .Iit was lovely weather and not windy for once, which always helps!

Hi Cathryn14, glad that mystery is solved! I could feel the urge to go quickly at the beginning but did hold back which meant the whole run was pretty enjoyable, and yes the weather was fab.

Hi there. Just to be clear the photo I flagged was of Fitfor60. I'm in this one - with the yellow and black gilet. I reckon we must have been quite close as you were about 10 secs ahead of me at the finish. flickr.com/photos/22960608@...

BTW there is a C25k Facebook group - not quite so anonymous and a bit wider ranging. facebook.com/groups/C25Kers/

well done, thats a great time :) we only have a hundred or so at our parkrun( but that still seems alot after running on your own!) so it must feel really good to be part of such a big gathering! Hope you get to do it again soon, i'm on my 2nd one this coming Sat!

I have only ever run with one other person and that's my husband and that's only been a handful of times. This was so different, but I loved it. I am now wondering if I might get to 5k in 30 minutes at some point. Maybe by the summer, we'll see. Enjoy your next parkrun too :)

It's my pal who takes the yoga classes and they are only on on a Saturday morning so I do want to keep going with them. Plus they are doing me good in a different way, just wish they didn't clash! Glad you enjoyed your first time too!

First parkrun and I missed the land mark! Well done - very pleased you have experienced the parkrun feel and atmosphere. It is very heartwarming and makes you feel part of the running community. One day I am going to do the Edinburgh parkrun....xx
