There has been just too much standing water in our vicinity over the last few weeks to be able to get out and run a decent distance. Even the local cricket field which was my fallback running venue at the beginning of the year has been under water. But over the past few days the water levels have fallen considerably and I can now get into the cricket field again without putting a wet suit on first.
So I ventured out with my running kit on again this morning. I was a bit nervous that my body would have forgotten what to do, but it hadn't and I managed a gentle 20 minute jog quite easily, which was pretty satisfying.
Just need the water that is blocking my access to the canal towpath to clear and then I can get on with some really 'meaty' runs again - running round and round in circles doesn't really do it for me, though it's got to be better than the 'dreadmill'!
The sunshine is beautiful here - hope it is wherever you all are and that you're able to get out and enjoy it!

Glad you've managed to get out again Hennith. It's been pretty grim here too and like you I get bored running up and down, round and round! Days like this make you feel that Spring is on the way so fingers crossed for better running days ahead!
I am so glad you have managed to get out, eventually. Weather has been wet up here in Edinburgh but no flooding just a bit of mud. Hope that's the end of the rain and you can get back to normal. 20 minutes after a month off is pretty good going. Well done !
Don't be. I think you might find you are stronger than you realise. On Wed I managed 25 mins - very slowly, I admit, but I could still keep going which pleased me enormously! Hope you had a good holiday - sounds fab!
Well done Hennith. I fell off the wagon too.after graduating in November at the same time as you, I kept going into the new year. Then the weather just got worse and worse. I went out one cold wet night and got an ear infection the next day...more bad weather...a cold... Before I knew it, 7 weeks had passed with no running.
But I went out today (in honour of my 50th birthday!). Started on week 1 again, but that was dead easy, I think I could do at least wk3, but I want to go gently.
