Good for you and bonus that you know the route You have plenty time to prepare.See what happens when you buy that mag. I was sort of thinking maybe I might perhaps think of entering one sometime ( does that sound confident enough? ) Good luck

Thank you- Yes it is good to have something to focus on - I have the race for life 5k in June but have done that a couple of times now and 10k seems such a bigger challenge to me

There is definitely something scary and exciting about entering your first race, I must be barmy as I've just booked into my second and I've not ran either yet (6 mile blaydon race on 9th June followed by the Great North Run in September) also thinking the Gateshead 10k in July might be worth a punt too, if I'm gonna do something I may as well do it in style! You have plenty of time to prepare and I'm sure you'll do brill!

Well done! Plenty of time to train between now and May. My first 10k is booked for September ... eek!

I'm singing Blaydon Races now! It's gonna be in my head all day now.

I made a plan for conquering 10 k last night. I've not done an official 5 k yet but I think if I train for 10 then the 5 should be kids stuff. Yeah right. Ever the optimist though ey.

It should be a steep learning curve as I've never done any sort of gym exercise type stuff nor pilates, yoga or aerobics etc. I thought I should leave my comfort zone having come this far.

You inspired me folks. I can blame you then when it all goes *i*s up! LOL

I'm not taking any responsibility if it goes *i* s up! Although I reckon since you managed 0-almost 5k you'll manage 5-10. I will however take responsibility for putting the Blaydon Races song in your head for the day :D

I loved my first 10k run. It was cold, it was hilly and my friend galloped ahead of me all the way round. But I completed it at my own pace with a stupid grin on my face (apart from the very steep hill at the end), and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope your experience is as good as mine was.

Good luck!

Plenty of time to get ready, you will love it. I did my first 10k last October and loved it.

Now I am running about 2 to 3 10k's each week and I love it.
