A different approach this year.....

I first started C25k in 2012 and absolutely loved it.

Graduated around April , and spurred on my all the fantastic posts continued to push myself up to 9k by the summer.

Then, bang!

The start of a litany of injuries and physios and re-starts far too boring to go into!

Last year my aim was 5.5@55..... That is 5.5 miles on my 55th birthday which I achieved, buy had to wear a walking knee brace in between my runs!

So this year, having been working my way back from sciatica,

and got to week 5 run 3, I need to contain myself and not push too hard or too fast.

But.....when I read about everybody's speed/distance/time achievements I get overexcited and set myself goals.

So my goals this year.....

To run three times a week

To graduate again

To get to 5k again (around 35 mins)

Be happy I can run for thirty minutes in different locations , wherever and whenever I choose.

Do NOT be tempted to overtrain .......

Any comments.......anyone else feel the same?

Yes very much, my aim (which I have to keep reminding myself) is to enjoy my running and avoid injury which blighted much of last year for me. It's easy to slip into pushing myself too hard, Parkruns are a particular danger for me as I get faster with the crowd, so I'm constantly keeping a check on myself. Your goals sound sensible and achievable, happy running and keep avoiding the urge to push too far too soon - you look fab at 55 btw! :-)

Well done for keeping going. You look great. To keep motivated or just to record what you are doing, you could always join The 'Week 2. Love to run Valentine Quest - feel free to join'. Tomorrow will be week 3.

saw your post on F/B so popped over to read this. Take it nice a slowly, that will help build up those muscles again, Sciatica is a nasty thing (know from experience) so slow and steady pays off in the long run ;)
