Happy New Year all...

I managed my end of year target of attending my first Parkrun - 21 years to the day after I had my first child (she declined to join me but my younger daughter did). I was thrilled to get below 30 minutes (just)).

Since then I've done three more... all in the last week - two Saturdays and the New Year's run. I'm really pleased I've managed a Personal Best each time... and even beat my young fit daughter twice! - Although I was glad for her that she beat me last time.

I can't say I find the runs easy - we do a circuit, and I find it a bit disheartening on the first circuit to know I have to do it twice more... but it is fun to have the company and the encouragement, and getting to see something of the running community. I'll find it different when my daughter goes back to University.

Funny how much I enjoy it more in retrospect when I get a PB!! I know it won't keep improving, but maybe (?) easier?

I must look up the 5K+ podcasts to find out how to work on speed...

I recommend Parkruns .. If you've been meaning to get there Go For It!

Thanks. Keep at it :)

Well done! I've been looking at park runs but the nearest one to me is 2 bus journeys away. As I'm making the transition from treadmill to outdoors think I'll just try and increase my distances for now.

Well done, it sounds like you're doing really well. I know what you mean though, the pack drives you on to push yourself, pbs are fab but gosh it's hard work - all part of the fun :-)
