sadly, but W6 R1 completed this morning. Oh and the thought of jogging and breathing in through my nose and then out through my mouth is just impossible. Not sure if anyone else is gasping for air?! It must be working though as 6 weeks ago jogging for a minute at a time seemed near impossible......... Anyway - what about that music!!!!!!!!!!!! But at least it means I can't hear my rasping breaths. Happy jogging everyone!
It's not getting any easier.....: sadly, but W... - Couch to 5K
It's not getting any easier.....
I think it's more "noise" than music!! You're well over halfway there now - whoop, whoop!!!! Might not feel any easier just yet but you're definitely progressing. As for the breathing through the nose and out the mouth, hmmm, never mastered that one so you're not alone... that was the one tip I wanted to lob right back at Laura! Enjoy the running
It is getting easier, you're just working harder
I never sorted the breathing through the nose, and was always quite gaspy as first, but have recently noticed that this has really lessened. (I started mid june) so stick with it, it will probably sort itself out! As for the music... I ditched Laura and made my own playlist using the timings for each session on the website. That helped no end!
How complicated is it to make your own playlist with timings? Sounds like something I need to get my kids to do for me!
There is the c25k app but that seems to have mixed reviews, I simply added up the time of each song until I got to my desired running time, walked 5 mins, put on playlist and when it finishes walk 5 mins to cool down. I liked to know the middle song so I could turn...
Did week 6/1 run on Sunday and agree the music is a bit 'different' (aka horrible noise).
I find as soon as Laura gives instructions on how to breathe my breathing goes all over the place so I have learnt to ignore any breathing instructions. I also have absolutely no idea about which part of my foot hits the ground first and which 'should'.
Try breathing in through your mouth, taking steady deep breaths as you run.
You can't take enough air in through the nose when running thats what i was told when i used to run for my school.
Good luck and keep going.
Oh thank you all! I will not panic about the breathing then and just keep doing what I've been doing and I will try deeper breaths through my mouth instead. And thank you Crox....... a much more positive spin.
Just breathe anyway you find you can.......it's nearly impossible to breathe through the nose and get enough oxygen in for running....so breathe in and and out the mouth just try to slow it down in for a count of four out for a count of four breathe from your diaphragm not your upper chest so you fill all your lungs practise while your just sitting around at home it work, like everything else it's just another new exercise
When it comes to running I'm a mouth breather =D The other way has never worked for me, I get dizzy and then hyperventilate, did that once a couple of years ago and the Personal Trainer opted to let me revert to the gaping jaw mode lol!
