Just completed my first ever jog! Felt like I was going to pass out when I’d finished and I had a cough! Does it get any easier? I really want to take up jogging but I’m beginning to think I’m not going to be much good at it 🙈
Does it get any easier: Just completed my first... - Couch to 5K
Does it get any easier
You will surprise yourself. Keep at it
Yes! When I first started running, since I'm asthmatic, I'd actually often have to stop and use my inhaler. After a few weeks, I started getting stronger, and I rarely needed my inhaler, even after a long run!
And honestly, don't be afraid to stop and walk if you're struggling. With time you'll get stronger and be able to jog longer too.
I had bad asthma as a child, I’ve not needed inhalers for years but I’ve just booked an asthma check as I’ve started getting this really dry cough after I’ve finished, I really don’t want to give up! It was only my first ever run so I suppose I should give myself time to get used to it 👍🏻
Keep at it, I started this programme again as I completed it 3yrs ago and knew how good it was (I’m not built for running😉).
I felt exactly the same during week 1. I’ve just completed week 9 and actually enjoy running. At 46 I never thought I’d hear myself saying that 😂?
I was beetroot red and out of puff completely after my first run and now I can run 5k in 40 minutes. You will be able to do this, just go slow, I was not much faster than walking at first, trust the programme and follow this forum. It is amazing how well it works. I'm really not a natural at it but I now do think of myself as a runner. Ish lol. 😊
Thankyou everyone, I will spur on! Next run is Wednesday, just have to keep telling myself that I’m not the only one that suffered the first week! 🙈😂 x
You have done brilliantly to keep going 😊My breathing got better after first week. It has helped me to leave more than one rest day between runs , run at snails 🐌 pace and post after each run .😄 I am on week 3 run 3 next but I still find it hard at times , but am determined to keep going. 😊
Hi jaime77 are you doing the couch to 5k or just jogging? If you are going to run on the treadmill try running with a 1% incline, I didn't and now am struggling with the outside runs as I find it more difficult. I read that advise on here but it was too late for me.
He he he. You often feel like that but it’ll be over longer and longer distances.
