Garmin and character size for eyesight that is not as it once was.

It may be a silly question but the people who have Garmin watches etc, how big are the characters? I am thinking of asking for one for Xmas, but I can’t really see my phone (iphone4) without reading glasses. I have to set Laura and Runkeeper off before I leave home or I’m lost.

Do I find glasses that I can take on a run? – I’ve seen readers that fold in half that might be useful, but I don't think they would fit in my waist bag with keys and phone.

The more basic the watch, the larger the characters! The Garmin Forerunner 10 just shows two things on the face when set, and you can choose which two (I use pace and distance). I don't think you will need glasses to read them while running.

On the watch setting, the time characters are about 6mm high, the date under it is smaller.

On tracking, characters again are about 6mm high. When you switch between modes the characters are smaller while it tells you what it's going to show you, but when the numbers come up they're 6mm again. I know that sounds small but they're fairly clear.

Once you've found the satellite you only need to press the top right button to start and again to stop so you don't really need to see it well, unless you're a clock watcher (and I'm trying to wean myself off that habit).

I also have the Garmin FR10 and I got that one for exactly this reason I can read it without my reading glasses, a good GPS watch for the money

Goodness me I would never have thought of that and I'm like you and have to start Laura in house ! Thank you for asking the question as I'm sure lots of us have same problem with not been able to see without reading glasses

I struggle to see my Garmin forerunner 10 when I'm on the move, I can't seem to concentrate on moving and focusing at the same time! That said, the numbers are pretty clear, and I like to study it when I get home, I'm chuffed to bits with it!
