Keep thinking how on earth am I gonna do 5 min runs next week, do i repeat week 3 or just keep going!
I'll be doing my last run of week 3 later, my ... - Couch to 5K
I'll be doing my last run of week 3 later, my lungs feel like they're gonna burst!!
I had painful airways at the beginning and someone replied telling me about breathe in through the nose and out through mouth. It did stop the pain. Now I just do what comes naturally - mostly mouth breathing, and it feels fine.
Is it that you are unable to fill your lungs enough or is it the dry air causing pain? You need to do 'belly' breathing and maybe wear a buff over your mouth.
Try Googling it and you will find many sites with suggestions. e.g:
If you completed the run, then go on to the next one. The progression looks alarming but you will be amazed that you can achieve the next run. If your breathing is difficult, then ease back your pace until it is comfortable. Just look how far you have come from your first run of W1, congratulate yourself, then move on, trusting the training plan to deliver a new you, who WILL be able to run for 30mins non stop in just a few weeks time.
Good luck, keep running, keep posting.
Keep going! You'll be pleasantly surprised! I just did my first week 4 run thinking the exact same thing and I managed it it feels great afterwards!
LOL. I keep thinking the same thing. I did W3R3 today and during the second 3 min run, I couldn't stop thinking "this is going to be the short bit next week". But in Week 1 I was gasping for air by the third 60 second run. Week after next is the dreaded week 5 and no doubt by then we will be looking back at 5 mins as being a fond memory.
I think all of this is the 50% of the challenge that is mental rather than physical. Just keep focusing on the next step and don't think about what is next week.
