Well done you! Isn't it an amazing feeling? Enjoy that celebratory shower! Sing the loudest you can!
That's it, you have made the first and biggest step by starting. Great to hear it went well for you and you enjoyed it.!
Congratulations ~ you are a runner! OK, you may now need to seek some psychiatric help with your new (as it will become, 'obsession'), but welcome to the great world of running.
It's good to hear that you didn't need to stop or walk. The best advice I could give you is to get some really good running shoes. Get a gait analysis done (all good running shops offer the service), and don't stop because of cooler/colder days. Pop an extra layer on and you'll soon warm up. Many on here run year round with just long legs, a long sleeved T, with a short sleeved T over the top. If it is windy, wear a windproof, but rain proof tops don't really exist, and if you try one on, you will soon fin out the true meaning of boil-in-the-bag.
The only other 'essential' piece of kit for cold weather is a pair of gloves. A hat is optional, unless you have my hair-line, in which case it becomes an essential.
Enjoy your running, find your local Parkrun for the future, and keep us posted!
Hi, I think I have all the clothing sorted. I bought the running shoes and bought the rest of the clothing from Aldi and Sports Direct. The only thing I don't have is gloves so I will get those. I am 5ft 4inches and weigh 11 stone so I have a lot of hard work ahead!! I am going to concentrate on the running aspect initially and deal with the losing weight after. The annoying thing is I hardly eat anything!!!
Thanks for your advice I really appreciate it. Run 2 tomorrow!!!
Don't forget your rest days; they are realy important.
As for weight loss ~that will come, but not straight away. Firstly you will notice that you are running further, and are not as out of breath, Then you will see that you are generally feeling fitter and healthier, then the weight loss will creep up on you when you are least expecting it, and that is a bonus.
Good luck with ALL your runs, and keep us posted.
