Well, yep, I did w9 r3 today! Graduated without too many hiccups, dead proud of myself! Only achieving 4.1 km tho'. Is it just a case of keep doing 30 minute runs and gradually improving my fitness? Any tips gratefully received.
I did it!: Well, yep, I did w9 r3 today... - Couch to 5K
I did it!
We'll done and welcome to the graduate club. Many people don't run 5K in 30 mins, especially when they first graduate. I just kept running for a minute or two longer every week until I made it. This is what I still do, and now I'm up to 11K. I suppose it will depend on whether you want to increase speed or distance. But for the moment just enjoy your success!
I was not near 5 k either. I just run for longer now - 50 minutes or so. Have got to just over 7k (once) but since then have had to do shorter runs for pressure of time reasons. Though last night was 40 mins and that counts as a short run - when I think back to how stressed I was at the prospect of running for 20 mins a while ago, I realise I've definitely made progress! Well done on your shiny new badge! Do you have a student loan to pay back now?
congratulations on completion its a great feeling isn't it. As Tready said if you're going for distance then just push a little further maybe even just once a week until you get to the 5.k. That's where i'm at at the moment i've just managed 5.86k tonight and next time i'll just try for the 6k.I try not to put too much pressure on myself though
Thanks everyone for your tips. Will keep pushing myself to reach 5k and then withing 30 mins hopefully! Happy running
Well done on getting your badge. I did my final run yesterday and only got 3.8. So great time. Enjoy your running
Very well done, welcome to the 5k club! My runs are very hilly, so average around 3k. I just run the time eg 30 mins and track the improvements on Map my Run, great app.
Congrats again to you
Congratulations on your graduation. I agree with the advice above - just keep slowly increasing your time of running and 5 K will appear. I certainly hope so, as I was at 3.7k on graduation. I have managed a 4.4, which is getting there. I also try to increase my pace ever so slightly for part of my run.
