Repeating week 3

Going to repeat week 3. Have absolutely hated it apart from first run. Failed miserably yesterday. Walked during first 3 min run for about 20 secs and never even attempted second run :-(

Try to relax a bit each time you breathe out and keep steps small. I get really tense in my shoulders when I am in a tizzy. It is about relaxing and keeping going. Concentrate on that and it really helps shut out the world and the feelings that you should be doing it. Just repeat one run maybe rather than the whole week? And come back here for more encouragement.

The fact that you are here and haven't just thrown in the towel says you will finish this challenge. If you weren't bothered you would have given up and not come on here! You will do it...In the week 5 podcast Laura says that you have done all the worst bits...and that is true for me so far....the hardest runs were the early ones...for me, it has got easier physically. There is a big mental challenge to this lark. Also, I have tended to sort out my breathing myself...when I try to change it I get breathless! Relaxing is such a big part of it...my first run each time has been the worst...but when you relax...and go really really slow, you can do it! X

Slow it all down a bit - concentrate on your breathing - getting it steady. Those first few weeks getting into a rhythm can be quite challenging. Not forgetting our brain has a big part to play in this - and part of the training is building up our mental stamina. Put it behind an on with the next run.

good luck:-)

Starting week 3 today. I'll be stealing all these tips! I'm working on the principle that any running is good, so I'm not being hard on myself if my runs are approximations of what is expected. I repeated week 1 and expect to repeat week 3 numerous times. Keep going! Not aiming for Rio, just a healthier life. Or are you aiming for Rio...scary thought...

No harm in repeating, it's not a failure. I repeated loads of weeks, it didn't stop me setting a 5km on if 24 mins 10 seconds yesterday :-)

Don't fixate on the failures, learn something from them and move on, it'll be ok if you stick with it :-)
