Don't you just love it.........

So, there I was on the treadmill, no one else around, 10 minutes into my run, great music on the iPod, getting into a nice rhythm, feeling good. Then, someone else jumped on a treadmill opposite me. I clocked her for a second. Hells bells, she looked seriously fit and (much) younger than me. She clocked me for a second and probably thought " she's puffing a bit". My competitive streak roared but I thought no, this is not a competition, just carry on with your own pace.

Well, fit girl didn't warm up, she started straight into the running. Ooh naughty her I thought, she obviously hasn't done C25K!! And then she started to run. Fast. Seriously fast. Bloody hell I thought she's not going to keep that up for long. At this stage I was starting to turn a little pink but kept plodding at my usual speed. She looked at me, I looked at her and she continued to run on VERY FAST .....and then she stopped! She had run for about 5 minutes! I knew she wouldn't be able to run for long at that speed.

I kept plodding along for another 15 minutes and completed my run, my face at this time a beetroot red, but I didn't care. I felt a childish thrill that I had outrun her!

(Please no one spoil this for me by telling me that she probably runs several marathons each year and she was just having a bad run). But she did look seriously fit. Hee hee!

Ha Ha - I love when things like that happen - and we are allowed our own secret glee. My most shameful which- ssh i will tell just you- this slim fast runner in skin hugging black lycra- raced passed me - I had nothing to respond with - just as you say plodding along. but I was mightily pleased that despite her slimness - she had some serious wobble going on her hips - and that made me grin from ear to ear. ( Ha ha but also made me wonder about my own hip wobble!!)

How funny. I didn't look at fit girl's wobble!

Goes to show that looks aren't all that. You're probably much fitter than her - even if she could beat you in a sprint!

I'm very used now to being overtaken by other runners, I just take it on the chin and plod on. the only person I've ever managed to overtake was a 7/8 year old boy who was out running with his dad.

Same happened to me when I was on the treadmill. The very tanned(TOWIE)blonde with super shiny bright pink leotard looked fit and flash.I thought oh heck,I'm going to look a right Wally now.She also ran fast for a couple of minutes, went on the exercise bike, and proceeded to hold a conversation on the mob.Waste of time.Keep running.Youre the tops
