FOR ALL YOU LOVELY RUNNERS JUST STARTING C25K πŸ₯΅ IT IS POSSIBLE! ❀️

I started C25K some time in June/July and graduated in the first week of September. When I started, I didn't tell a soul I was doing this for fear of failure! At the beginning, I didn't believe that I could do it! Every run was a personal challenge. One of them 'motivation' another was thinking 'can I fit in 3 runs a week?' 'am I too old?' 'am I fit enough?' 'what must I look look?' Self doubt all the way πŸ€” But THIS FORUM! IS SOMETHING ELSE! YOU ARE MY MOTIVATION AND MY INSPIRATION ❀️

Then I got passed Week 5! and started telling a few people what I was doing! 😊 That was the turning point. I never failed a run. I never gave up. And to tell you the truth, I ENJOYED IT!

My Graduation run at the begining of September was just over 5k in 30 minutes! I have continued to run 3 times a week. I have increased my distance and increased my speed.

TODAY I RAN 12.55K πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ™„πŸ€”πŸ˜˜πŸ˜›πŸ€ͺπŸ₯΅

Enjoy the rest of your weekend β€οΈπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ xxxx

This is the type of post that's so great to read. As going through c25k sometimes you have doubts and sometimes runs or weeks need to be repeated. But thats ok , look how far you've came and it all started with 60 seconds of running.

So if you're just starting or thinking of starting look what is achievable .

Congratulations to you. πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

That's awesome. What a star.

Having looked at each week of the program, I'm already having doubts. I'm confident that I'll get to do a 30 minute run, but I'm preparing myself for having to repeat some weeks.

But you are absolutely right, this forum rocks. I'm relying on the support on here, and inspirational posts like yours to get me through it.

Really well done 🍾🍾🍾😁😁😁

Very inspirational. And great pace! You certainly are not old to run (this was one of your concerns).

Do you do parkrun?

AliHC profile image
AliHCGraduate in reply to Elisabeth3

Thank you ❀️ No, not done a Parkrun yet, but I have just entered a fairly local 5k race next month πŸ˜‚ Eeeek! xxx

Nice! You will smash that Race.

Is it in Rother Valley Country Park?

If you feel ready to start parkrun, and want companion, let me know. You live near me, don't know which direction, of course...πŸƒ

Yes it is Rother Valley! I think I might have a reccy this weekend (Sunday)

Which Parkrun do you do Elisabeth3 ?

Elisabeth3 profile image
Elisabeth3Graduate in reply to AliHC

Haha, it must be the one on the Running Weekend 16-17 November. πŸƒπŸŽ‰

My home parkrun is Poolsbrook Parkrun. In Staveley.

There are quite a few around here.

It's pretty hard to believe that in 5 months (June-October) that I've gone from puffing and panting and arms and legs flailing like Bambi on ice when trying to run for 60 seconds at a time in week 1 to running quite comfortably for 60 minutes! Not quite as elegant as a race horse! Still look a bit like Bambi at the end 🀣 xxx

How are you doing? 😊

Couchpotato2 profile image
Couchpotato2Graduate in reply to AliHC

Bambi is a good look, I’m more πŸ¦› but it was pointed out to me that they can run 30km/h so at least I have a way to go ;-)

Am back after ansort of injury where I found out that I actually have a few weaknesses that I need to work on and core... beurgh. But I’m back out and doing C25k again and so far it’s been fun. Hoping to work my way back up to 10km and spend time consolidating that. Physio also said I need to lose weight before considering HM (which i was working towards when stopped). I’m not into dieting and not really sure how to go about it but hoping the regular running will help xx

AliHCGraduate in reply to Couchpotato2

πŸ¦› 🀣 That's a very good point! They certainly can run fast! I certainly wouldn't like to be chased by one!

I've found that since graduating I have taken the Strength & Flex excersises more seriously! Although saying that, I do more yoga type stretching than anything else! As for Core excerseses, those are hard but, as a singer I'm really in touch with that part of my body and do PLANK excerseses every day! I usually put a YouTube video on of a song I'm learning and Plank & Sing πŸ˜‚ Sounds bloody awful 🀣

Really happy to hear that you're getting back out there again and have the will and determination to achieve your goals! I can only dream of a HM!

Diet is a 4 letter word! But sensible healthy eating is the way forward.

Keep up the good work that you're doing and the weight will hopefully start to disappear again.

Lots of love to you xxx

Hi Ali, I sing as well ;-) I've found that focusing on low breathing is really good during a run if I feel a bit on edge and it relaxes me immediately. As you, I've found that S and F is compulsory now that I run for longer so it's good that you are doing so much of it already. When I first started C25K, I tried to sing as I was running and it sounding possibly like I was having a stroke... HM is in the long term but for now I want to be happy and injury free running an hour... Happy running xx
