Week 2 of the program and enjoying it so far.
Just a quick question when it states that you need a rest day between each session. Would I still be able to go swimming on these rest days, or do I need to rest completely?

Hiya, there shouldn't be a problem with swimming 'in-between run days'. The reason for resting is to allow muscles/ joints to repair and strengthen ... if you are having a swim, the muscles are probably being used in a different way (from running) and your body is mostly supported by the water. Now, if you're training for the next swimming Olympics ...... better reconsider LOL

Play it by ear, you'll know if you need rest
The rest day should avoid the impact of running, so swimming and cycling will help build up your musculature without causing problems. In fact because you will use different muscle sets you will be helping to avoid injury as you develop those groups and keep them balanced with the groups that you are using for running. Apparently, many injuries are caused by muscle imbalance.
