W1R3. Why???

So I completed the third run of week one. It nearly finished me off. Why did I find it so difficult today when on Tuesday it wasn't so bad? I feel a bit worried that its going to get tougher. Because of my size I am going to repeat week one again. :(

you may be trying to go too fast too soon, maybe try slowing down your jogging. Pacing yourself is an important part in this, so find the right pace for you!

Hi Flower! I'm no expert (I'm on week 3 myself) but having read many posts on this wonderful forum I've seen a lot of posts from people at all stages of the program who have been doing well but then, for no apparent reason, have a bad one. No rhyme or reason, just have a one-off disaster. Based on the posts I've read, and my own experience of moving from week 1 to week 2 and then week 3 I would say if you found the other 2 runs reasonably OK then certainly give the move up to week 2 a try, you can always go back if you need to but if you don't try you won't know. Just remember to take it very steady and don't be tempted to push yourself - you don't need to and it's counter-productive. Slow and steady really does seem to win the day with this. Give it a go and let us know how you get on. Very best of luck to you!!

I found rather than running every other day, I did 3 runs a week, leaving two days of recovery at the end of the week. You've asked a lot of your body this week, quite rightly it's exhausted, give it that extra day and move onto week 2 next week with new enthusiasm.

I'm on week 5 and I've already noticed a pattern.

Run 1 - I'm not sure I can do it so I play it safe.

Run 2 - I know I can do it and post my best distance.

Run 3 - by this point I'm actually quite tired and although it's not as impressive as run 2 it's better than run 1.

Be proud of yourself, you made it through the first week and I think that was the hardest step. Well done you.

I'd echo the advice above, and also say that I noticed the same pattern with the weeks as louisew99 did.

You've done really well to get through W1, be proud of yourself. Have a rest & give W2 a go - you might just surprise yourself.

right...lets get something straight here....you completed week one...OH WOW...that in itself is so amazing and this is totally the hardest part babes....honestly...if you need to do it twice...do it, but I think you could just go for week 2 as you have done so well. Blimey I found week one sooooo hard as its doing something your body hasn't done before.......you can do it darling and I am so proud of you ( miss you too!!!) XXXX

From time to time I have a really hard time with my run. No rhyme or reason and quite unpredictable. The good news though is that these bad runs are commonly (nearly always in fact) followed by really good runs!

So keep going I say and you might well be in for a pleasant surprise.

Don't use your weight as a reason to hold you back..I was 20 stone when I started two months ago (I'm now 18) and throwing myself into it was how I lost so quickly. A strict eating plan has helped too of course. Give week two a go, it's not as hard as you think!
