I think I may have the running bug - either that or I need sectioning...

Can't quite believe what happened to me on my run tonight - W3 R2, I'd been dreading W3 when I was doing W2 but found the first run absolutely fine so for a change I was actually looking forward to my run today instead of dreading it throughout the whole day as I have been.

Started out on my warm up walk and I felt a bit slow and was beginning to get in a bit of a grump with the whole thing. Started first 90s and then a combine harvester came past and I virtually had to climb into the hedge to let it past so lost about 20s of the first run and felt a bit slow and stodgy. Thought about packing the whole thing in and starting again tomorrow but the thought of going home and confessing to my husband (running fanatic) kept me going. Felt good through first 3m run and next 90s run and then madly on the final 3m run I felt as if I was in a real rhythm. I decides to run a bit further to make up for the hedge climbing in the first 90s, so when Laura said it was time to stop I set my sights on a tree that looked about 60s away and kept going, and going, and going... I ran through the whole of the warm down 3m and into the next pod cast. Didn't have my watch but think I maybe ran for a total of about 8/9 minutes roughly by judging distance etc etc!!

Then the super crazy thing was I felt great rather than flopping!! I started brisk walk home - ran another 90s block and then decided that was definitely enough and walked final 10m home!

I can't believe it! I found w 1/2 so hard and although I've been determined part of me thought I'd never finish this just because I wouldn't be able to do it!!

Now I'm just hoping I won't regret this tomorrow with super achy thighs but all ok at the mo.

now my question is do I finish w 3 on thurs as planned or move on to W4 r1? Anyone else skipped any? I'm a bit nervous to skip ahead and then run risk of failing but don't want to make it too easy for myself either?

Brilliant. You have just the right attitude to make this work for you, but I wouldn't advise jumping ahead, you will then be in uncharted territory. The progression of C25k is gentle, achievable and rewarding. If you take on more than you are ready for it could be too challenging and consequently demotivating. I would recommend that you kerb your admirable impatience and enthusiasm and trust the lovely Laura to get you all the way to graduating.

Join the Running Bug Club :)

The plan is designed to build up strength and fitness as well as getting your body and muscles used to it, especially in the early stages. I'd suggest sticking to it and taking it slow and steady.

Brilliant, well done!! You'll be another source of inspiration for my second run tonight. After the first one on Monday I thought I could have kept going for a bit, but decided the powers that be must know best so I put my trust in them and just kept to the plan. Be careful you don't overdo it, you don't want to pick up an injury that'll set you back. Perhaps getting in a 'grump' at the start is the secret - I'll try being miserable, shouting at old ladies and pushing cyclists off their bikes on the first run and see if that helps!
