Well after the running drought which was August, (I only put in 2 runs in the entire month - both of those were while we holidayed in Wales) I think I really ought to get back off the couch, blow the dust of my shoes & see if it's possible that there is still a runner hiding somewhere inside me.
After talking to a friend at work I've decided to break myself back in gently as the biggest lesson I learned from C25k was not to over do it too much after a period of rest - or in my case a diagnosis of complete lazyitis ... So in an attempt to rediscover my inner running mojo I have decided to go for a target which I know is comfortable for me to do. Something I have done in the past which is nice and familiar.
So Wednesday night I will rejoin Laura and we will start to run W9 all over again - I know it means enduring the awful track about Julie - but I'm sure I can get through that ....Then I need to get back to my 10k plan so I have 3 more weeks of duration running - ideally 40mins then 50mins then the full hour of non stop running should get me back on track, but we will see....
What I really want to do is get back that feeling of YES YES YES I've done it when you complete each run and the warm post run glow of satisfaction ... so wish me luck as I start "Finding MoJo"!!
Hi matthewW. I've been wondering where you've been hiding! I can really identify with you because once you've graduated you need another challenge to keep the motivation up. I ran W9 again this morning but it is too easy to bunk off now! But you know I've never really felt those highs people keep on about. I am doing it because I know it is good for me that's all.
Hello again - yes have been off here for a little while - a couple weeks in sunny Wales (where I did both of my August runs) and then a bit of layitis kicked in and I have rediscovered my couch sitting habits once more - but hopefully tonight will prove that I am made of stronger stuff.
Yes I did SteppingStones & then Speed - and I was really put off both of them because I'm either running a bit faster or a bit slower - so I haven't bothered since...
I think W9 is good because you get a mini pep talk every 5 mins from Laura, although before holidays I was running along to my own tunes - especially blondie for some reason ...
ahhh you see I have a cunning plan and I just edited it on audacity so I have replaced the intro with the one from SteppingStones (which has that really bouncy Celebrate track) - sneakily deleting Julie and that whole sorry tale of her misery!
Hopefully I'll be back out there Friday & Sunday too ... fingers crossed
Sensible advice to break in gently after a break... to prevent Injury... I'm sure you'll be saying 'yes yes yes' before very long... Just dig deep for that inner mojo as its in there somewhere. Good luck and happy panthering. love the tags..
Thanks JuicyJu - that pic reminds me that my new running shades have arrived so tonight will be my first time out in them - such a treat taking out new gear... hopefully I'll get the triple yes, but only if it's a good run.
I know that the MoJo is in there somewhere - I had it just before I went on holiday so it can't be too hard to find it again can it?
Although I do think I need to borrow your panther - I'm sure I would definitely be running a lot further if one of those things was chasing after me - (apparently you shouldn't run away from big cats - otherwise they see you as dinner, chase you down and next thing you know is you've become panther food!)
Happy Running too - have they still not fixed the tags?
