Amazing...

I have been doing alot of thinking about life lately ( as you do!!!)...and I just wanted to capture some of my thoughts about running..

I happened to stumble accross the C25k programme when I was looking for something else and I saw Laura's little vid and i thought...mmm I could do that, I'll go out tomorrow...I did. One run, and I was totally hooked...no looking back...

So- for me, I am going to sum up what its given me to date...

1.A new level of fitness, blimey my body is strong and for once in my 42 years I feel control of it

2.Mental focus...When I run, I can refocus and make sense of my juicyju world ( complicated)

3.I was saying to a friend today that its like having a deep sleep...when you wake up, everything seems manageable and OK...same after a run

4.I have never pushed myself this much...ever and its so so hard sometimes, but its made me realise how much we can make our bodies submit, and how far we can push ourselves to the limits...I so love that

5. Through running I have found my inner panther and I so love panthering

My list is a bit daft I admit, but its my simple summing up of what running has given me, its changed my life and I can see its changed so many of your lives too, which is so good...

Happy Panthering

I couldn't agree more. When I contacted the admin team for my graduate badge, I asked them if they had any posters for C25k that I could distribute locally, because I would love other people to discover what the plan has to offer. They said they would look into it and I have not heard anything back yet. Like you, I stumbled across C25k, but with better publicity this scheme could save our beloved NHS a fortune in years to come and boost the mood of the nation hugely.

And we all thought you were a pussy cat.

I totally agree...I work in the NHS and I know this could make such a huge difference to peoples' lives...there needs to be local groups for people to join, and a friend suggested C25k ambassadors to be a point of contact, people like us who have done the programme...I have been trying to look at where and how to drive this...

and yes... sometimes I am a pussy cat....and sometimes a panther.

I came across this purely by chance and it has been absolutely brilliant for my mental health. So wish I'd found it earlier or that it had been suggested by a health professional over the numerous years I've been seeking help. When I saw my GP recently and mentioned it to her she'd never heard of it. Couch to 5K has been so amazing for me, I feel that more people should know about this and be able to have the opportunity to try it and see if they can gain from it like I've been able to. Great to see how much you have gained from it too Juicyju, keep panthering :) PS you a pussy cat? pah! x

Totes agree with you JJ! Similar reasons, as well as like sofaqueen, running has done wonders for my mental health. It's helped me to give up smoking (when i mentioned it to my NHS quit smoking adviser she looked confused as if she had never heard of it!) It really should be better advertised, it's benefited me and my health no end!!!!!!

hmmm - completely agree with JJ and all the comments - but I have no panther in me more like an enthusiastic rather chubby Labrador...

Labradors are so lovable, though.

You are a total inspiration. X
