The more I run the more I eat!

Anyone else finding this? I ran over 4 miles last night,( doing the 10k training) and boy was I hungry when I got in. My usual bowl of porridge used to be just Goldilocks, now it's a bear as well! I seem to be craving sweet things as well, that's not good!

:D

I always think craving sweet things can be your body needing more energy? I get it too & try to keep healthier options in to subvert, almonds, oat cakes, quick fix things. Doesn't always work though ;-)

This used to happen to me as well, so I switched from running after supper to running before supper just after I get home from work. This really helped. Like notbad says, try having a few healthy things ready to eat when you get home so you don't reach for the more unhealthy options. I like crunchy carrots. Or Wasa (sort of like Swedish ryvita) with goat's cheese. Oldgirl also said I should drink a lot of water after a run. I started doing this and found the hunger pangs lessened.

Did you know quite often when you feel really hungry especially after exercise its your brain sending out signals which we can't determine the difference between hunger and dehydration. Before you start eating loads of food have a good drink of water and wait a little while, the chances are you will not over eat then.

Thanks all, I know I haven't been particularly healthy lately. Since I've upped my running I feel like I have a green card to eat anything!!

I read in my health and fitness magazine (this month) that if you crave sweet food it can indicate that you're not eating enough carbohydrates.
