Hi about to start level 1 tomorrow. Do you do it for 30 days straight or every other day? Thank you
For the 'Shred' people!: Hi about to start level... - Couch to 5K
For the 'Shred' people!
I believe it's every day if it's the same '30 Day Shred' I done at the beginning of the year.
Every day, but i found it really hard on my knees, so stopped after about 20 days...that said very good but she is brutal! Now i alternate it with other stuff and my knees are fine. Good luck
hi just started too on day 4 today and doing it everyday hopefully for the full 30 !
day 1 and 2 was hard but felt better yesterday so hopefully will keep going
I started 30DS at the beginning of July when I was doing it every other day, alternating with runs. But I found this too tiring, so this month I have been doing 30DS 3 times a week (usually Mon / Weds / Fri) with alternating runs Tues & Thur (occasional weekend run if I can muster the energy). If you have the energy, try doing it every day as recommended as I believe you see the results sooner but there's no harm in tweaking it so it turns into a 60 Day Shred!
Like itsallanadventure above, I do suffer the occasional knee twinge so if you find it too hard on your knees (there are a lot of lunges & squats), take a break & have a rest. It's better to miss a few days rather than getting injured. Good luck x
Hi everyone and thanks for all your advice and responses. I think I'll do it three times a week. I can already see results from running. I do yoga as well don't want to burn out! Sunday total do nothing day I think. Btw she's very bossy! Good though as it will be great motivation
I read an interview with Jillian and she said herself that it's not meant to be done every day. I think she recommended having at least 1 rest day a week but said you could do it every other day and it wouldn't matter, you'd get the same results just at a slightly slower pace. The reason it is called '30 Day Shred' is because of the marketing people, apparently things like that sell more copies.
I believe you are supposed to do, on average, 5 days a week. You do each level 10 times and as there are 3 levels that makes 30 days of doing the DVD. It should take you six weeks if you do it 5 days a week and longer if you do 3 times a week. If you are doing other stuff, such as running, 3 days a week is probably perfectly adequate.
I find 5 times a week is too much if you are doing other stuff like running but you may well be much fitter than me
OK I finally got round to doing day one today, have been putting it off! Wasn't too bad, but I knew no way would i be able to keep up if I hadn't being doing couch25k for a while. She is very motivating and encouraging! I did forget one big question to ask, 'How did/ are you getting on, have you had results good or?
Thanks
