To pack or not to pack.....

...running shoes that is. I have been debating this with myself for the last week. I'm off to Lindos, Rhodes tomorrow and I'm not sure whether I should have a break or go for it! What do you think?

Pack them. Then if you fancy a run you can. Lindos is one of the loveliest places to go. Meals by starlight in the little restaurants on top of the houses. Delightful place. Have a great time!

Thanks Beek, I am going to pack them. I'm really looking forward to my holiday and if I run in the morning before it gets to hot I can cool off with a dip in the sea!

Take them with you I went camping in may not intending to run at all but took my trainers with me just incase. I ran for 3 out of our 6 days all early morning it's was absolutely beautiful, an I felt quite smug getting back an tucking into cooked breakfast knowing I'd already burned those cals and a bit more :-) abi

Good thinking Mrsbelt1, all those olives and feta cheese will add up! Definitely going to pack them.

I was there in early June at a family wedding in Lindos & it was way too hot to run. I managed 15mins x2. You'll have to be keen (or up very early)! Best of luck.

I'm thinking early or gym treadmill if all else fails!

I'm going to Barcelona for a couple of days in September for a friend's 50th birthday celebrations. I'm wearing my running shoes and packing my sandals coz they're lighter and smaller. I intend to run on the Friday and Sunday mornings, if it's not too hot that is.

I've packed mine in my husbands case, he doesn't need as much room as me! Enjoy Barcelona.

We were in Lindos in June. Beautiful place. Personally I didn't take my kit and just gave myself the time off. Not sure where you're staying (are you in the village or in the Krana?) but if you do manage a run, I'd be interested to know where you go and what route you take. There's not really an obvious place to run unless it's along the main road at the top of the village and I'm not sure how much pavement there is - particularly on the way into the village from the north (ie coming from the airport). Certainly the main road would be a bit danagerous to run on if thre's no pavement. It's also a bit on the hilly side for me - I only do flat courses at the moment! Have a fabulous holiday.

I will let you know if I find a good spot, I've never been before. I don't mind a gentle (ish) incline but don't fancy cliff climbing in the heat.

I would say take them. If it is too hot, or the chance doesn't arise, so be it; but if you don't have them with you, and the chance arises, you will kick yourself.

Whatever happens, enjoy your break!

I'm on holiday in France at the moment and packed without hesitation. Unfortunately it is so hot that I've only managed one run so far. Supposed to be cooler next week.

Enjoy the sunshine, one run is better than none and autumn is on the way, we will make it up then I'm sure.

I'm off to Tenerife tomorrow for 10 days. I've also packed my running kit - as you say, I may not get the opportunity/inclination to run, but at least I have the choice if I take my gear. Happy holidays x

I always take mine with me on holiday, depends on how full the case is, sometimes have to wear them. I ran every other day in Mexico early in the mornings (30C, 80% humidity) through the jungle paths that the grounds included, it was wonderful, hot and steamy but some of my best running ever. We go back in November, can't wait just hope this hotel has running/walking paths the same.
