Well, I did my first Parkrun this morning. Been wanting to do one for a while but due to various circumstances, it just didn't work out. So, today, with hubby away and the car all mine I drove up to Cheltenham ready for the 9:00am start.
It's a nice course, three laps around the lake on pathway and on grass around the football pitch, and a lovely morning - not too hot, plenty of shade. There were over 200 taking part and as this was only my second time running with a group and on an unfamiliar route, I took it fairly steadily, trying to keep out of the way of the more experienced runners.
And I'm so pleased with my time 30:44! Apparently I was 1st in my age group - YAY! 46th female - Okay, good ....and 175th/212! - that doesn't have quite the same pazazz! Never mind, I know the route now and have something to aim for. I will be back!
And I'm leaving the tags, because they made me laugh out loud!! N'ice???

Dottiemay leave the football behind next time and you'll go faster Its a strange Tag eh!?! Well done thats a very good first time, what a lot of runners you had to contend with as well.
Well done. I've started eyeing up parkrun results to see which one of the ones near me has an entry that might not leave me coming last! There's one that looks promising - just plucking up the courage to try it!
Well done, dottiemay! That sounds like a great time to me and now you know the course I bet you do even better next time. I'm on Week 4 at the mo and doing my local parkrun is my goal - not ready for it yet, but in the meantime I was a volunteer yesterday!
