The increase in the running time from 90 seconds to 3 minutes seems too much I will give it a go but just dreading the disappointment if I don't do it. I've been enjoying the feelings of elation after each session so I guess I will reach a point where it doesn't go so well??
Week 2 completed but very apprehensive about w... - Couch to 5K
Week 2 completed but very apprehensive about week 3
I felt exactly the same, I think I might have actually said "you're joking" out loud when Laura first said it! In fact I felt that way for most of the programme until I finally accepted that it seemed to be working and I was doing it. Do you check the timing for all the weeks before you do them? I preferred not to know what was coming each week so I didn't have the chance to worry about whether I could do it or not, I just had to get on with it. You probably will have runs that don't go so well but you will also have ones that feel great, just keep going, you can do it!
Snap! I've just come in from W2R3 - glad it didn't rain after all.
Did I mention I tried this scheme before and got up to W7? And then for one reason and another had to stop - but I do remember the minutes increase in reasonable steps and when you get a big step up it kind of feels as if you've been hardened to it by the previous week's exercise, so it's not as hard as you dread. I'm sure you'll be ok next week - if it feels too much it helps to slow down but you'll still be running so it's all ok.
(Having said that I used to get a bit embarrassed by week 5 if I was running and couldn't pass pedestrians, but hey. Little short legs is my excuse.)
Good luck. I'll think of you when I'm puffing and gasping my way through W3.
My next run will be W2R3, I don't look ahead to what the next week will be, afraid it might put me off. But plodding on, and have actually enjoyed this week x
Thanks all. I did look ahead quite by accident and wish I hadn't because it sort of spoilt my last 2 runs. Will just take it as it comes in future
Think positive, u can do it. I am on week 6 but remember my first 3 min run as I thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest & that it felt like an eternity till Laura said the magic words 'times up'. You will get there & the sense of achievement you feel as you make progress is amazing. Good luck!
Hi Mazzero, another GRADUATE here giving you some encouragement.
I too was exactly like you thinking that the jump to 3 mins was enormous - but.......you'll surprise yourself. I did.
And the feeling you will get afterwards is soooo worth it so GO FOR IT!!
