It's time to report my progress.

Hi All,

I've started C25K about three times now, the first two fell by the wayside before the end of Week 2, illness, work, horrible weather or something else managed to get in the way. So after being made redundant in April I joined the local sports centre and set a timetable for completing the programme and although I'm not quite finished I'm on the final straight. Tomorrow will be Week 8-3 and time to come out of the shadows.

I've been indoors using the treadmill and this definitely has worked for me. I've kept the belt reasonably constant at between 7.5 and 8km/hr and apart from one really duff run in Week 7 where I stopped after a mile I've completed them all as scheduled. I'm still a good way off a 5k in 30mins but I'm confident that this will come in time, my current best is 3.6km in 28minutes. Now I'm not so young and definitely on the fat side of overweight but I've stuck with it and have already passed a couple of major milestones (for me anyway) when I completed an uninterrupted mile in Week 5, the first since school some 40 years ago and I completed an uninterrupted 2 mile run for the first time ever in Week 7. It felt exquisite to have got this far in such a short space of time, especially when I think that its just a couple of months since that first 1 minute run.

A bit of healthier eating, a 2 mile run and down a stone and a half and I'm feeling good again, even played and hour of 1:1 basketball last week with my daughter and that would have been completely out of the question at Easter.
