Week 9, run 1. Seriously..?

Well I can't believe that I've been doing this for over 8 weeks and I haven't given up! I have to say this programme is a miracle worker, from not having run in years (about 20 years!) to now running 5k astonishes me. I think doing it first thing in the morning has been the key for me. Just knowing it's done for the day is a great thing!

Well, after doing 5k at the end of last week I really wanted to continue and just keep up the momentum. It was a very different day today though, does anyone else find it mush harder to run in the cold? My time today for the 5k was 32.37 so a whole minute slower than on Friday, but never mind, just gonna keep going because the feeling of achievement is unparalleled.

No idea what I'm going to do when I "graduate" I can't shake the idea of having a week off as a "reward" but that kind of defeats the whole prospect, no? On another note I went to get my gait tested to get some new sneakers, seems I over pronate and need some stability trainers, they cost the earth though, $269 Nz, About 136 pounds. I just can't justify the money (actually don't have the money!) don't know what I'm going to do...

Anyway, here's to the next run!

Sometimes I think the whole uber expensive trainers is a bit of a scam, running should be accessible to everyone. Anyway well done great achievement and perhaps you can now aim for 10k:)

I know! It's one of the main reasons I wanted to run - cheap, easy to fit into the day and great overall fitness. Problem is I've been having slight niggles in my knee and hip and I can't help wondering if it's my crappy old Nikes!

Thanks for the encouragement, I think I'm going to concentrate on speed rather than distance, I only have 40 mins in the morning to get out there and exercise before my husband has to go to work and I get the kiddies back! :)

Yep cold sucks, my body doesn't work the same in the cold, or my mind lol seems to take that little bit longer to do everything when its cold.

Even at a second slower its still a good time, and 'technically' you've not even graduated yet and have cracked the 5k barrier and are doing the times, I am sure it will just keep getting better and better :-)

I want to get my gait analysed, but live in the middle of no where so its a bit of a trek to the city just to get it done, when I cant even afford to buy trainers, or the fuel to get there for that matter :-D

what about ebay for cheaper versions ? now you know what you need you can just look around ? or catalogue ? and pay them up ? lol

I'm coming to Europe in a few weeks, my parents are Spanish and live in Spain, so I think I'm going to wait til then and get my sneakers there. I may not even have to pay for them if I'm good! (haven't seem my mum and dad in over a year)

I am chuffed I'm running 5k now, still can't believe it though. :)
