So, I finished Week 8 last Wednesday, then had a long weekend away, so haven't run since then.
My plan was to get back on track today, which would mean completing Week 9 exactly on schedule this weekend. But.... the rain is coming down in stair rods, and I'm seriously tempted to give it a miss.
I'd be less bothered if it was a 'normal' week and I'd run the day before yesterday. But skipping it tonight will mean not only a 6 day break, but also not meeting the 9 week target.
So, the big question is, should I don my cagoul and get on with it? What price soggy trainers :-~

I don't like going out when its weather like that but last summer taught me that if I was going to be a runner it meant going out in all weathers. Lets face it, once your wet your wet!! What I would say though is visiblity will be poor when its raining very heavy so make sure you wear something bright to be seen easily, stay safe whatever you do. Good luck
Oh dear... judging by the way my heart sank when I read your reply... apparently I wasn't actually wanting sound advice, I was wanting permission not to go. Ooops.
Too much rain for me is when the road is flooded! It's a very individual thing- I love running in the rain but I absolutely can't stand running in the wind. I just bung a cap on so the rain doesn't get in my eyes, I don't bother with waterproofs- all my running gear is that fancy pantsy wicking stuff.
Try it, you might find you love running in the rain!
Well, I run the canal path, and yes, it was definitely flooded. But I did it nevertheless!
I do envy you your fancy pantsy wicking stuff though - you don't half get a sweat on under a cagoul!
That said, I wouldn't run in the rain without it - I don't fancy being the only entry in the Canalside Wet T-Shirt Competition! Innocent bystanders would be suing me for mental damages!
Well done! This was quite a funny blog to read! You really didn't want that advice, did you? But hey - it worked!
I ran in the rain this morning too - started off with my waterproof jacket, but I got too hot and tied it round my waist, where it was very annoying! So I ended up pretty wet, but not cold.
Glad you went out and nailed it. In the early days I occasionally ran in an old Berghaus waterproof jacket but once I got some proper wicking running gear decided it's better just to get wet. in my experience the key is not to get chilled once you finish the run so dry off or shower as soon as you can.
I religiously check the weather everyday to avoid the rain and plan my runs around it!! but the other morning I went out and it started raining, so I only did 4k in 26mins as was getting drowned!!
I want to go out tomoz but weather shows rain (quelle suprise!!) but what the hell you lot have inspired me!!
I like running in the rain, not too happy about leaving the house when its pouring down but if I've a run planned I just go. I'm more put off by strong wind as it seems to play havock with my breathing, don't know if my asthma causes that or not.
I've run in the rain a few times. I run in an old pair of tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt. If it's cold I wear a long sleeved t-shirt. I'm not investing in kit until I'm sure I'll be keeping this up.
I don't wear waterproof if it's raining, I just go. I often find the run a bit easier - maybe it's just cos with glasses I can't see properly and that distraction helps.
I've done a few runs in the rain and enjoyed them all, especially when you get caught out in the last 5 mins of a run... it really cools you down and gives you refresh to go harder!
I love running in the rain too! Put a baseball cap on to keep it out of your eyes and you're good to go! ......it was running in a hail storm that I didn't like! Now that was cold!!!😳......And painful......but rain? Nah, just go do it!🤣🤣🤣
