any idea how long the average running track is?

Usually 400m. That about average.

Most modern tracks, including the Olympics, are 400metres (for a circuit).

I deleted my previous post on this question as after I had written it I realised I was speaking a load of rubbish as I sat on the top of the Broadhill watching a runner go around a running track, there is no way 1) it could be 800M as I first thought 2) could I run round and round a track for 5K 3) It would feel like 800M instead of 400M which they are, so darn boring, worse even than a dreadmill, only plus would be the fresh air.

Hi oldgirl,

my reasoning was that i run around a large field which has a running track in the middle. tonight i am to do week5 run 3 (eek) and thought i may trundle round the track to give myself an idea how far i actually cover in twenty mins running (slothing)

Where i live is really hilly and my hip prob means road running a killer so it's the easy if very boring option!

It will either inspire me or finish me off lol
