Soooo stiff don't know whether I'll be able to run tomorrow... :-(

Completed W1R1 yesterday and was very pleased that I'm not quite as unfit as I thought and did all the runs. BUT I'm still so stiff I can barely walk today (doesn't help I'm sat down all day). Was going to go swimming tonight to see if that helps. Do I just go for it in the morning and see what happens, or leave it another day?

This happened to me after my first run. I did go again after my rest day but I made sure I stretched really well after I had run. I do stretches for the lower and upper parts of my legs and have never had a problem since.

I ached a little bit after my W1R1 and when I started the 5 min warm up of W1R2 I thought i'm not going to be able to run but I did (sort of!). I guess only you know if you need an extra days rest, if you do then use it :)

I ached clear through C25K! :-) The first few weeks were the worse but was expected for this body that was using muscles not used in quite some time. :-) Try light stretching before going out if you wish and some people even walk 5-10 minutes before starting the podcast. It will get better! :-) Congrats on getting started! Gayle

There's always the 'slow and steady' strategy - lots of people start out expecting to run fast - slower may suit your body better, while it adjusts to the new things you're asking of it.

I definitely need to stretch properly next time, didn't do enough last time. Sure think you've got a point about going slower. Started out thinking I'd be able to run as quickly as my 6' 4" boyfriend (who regularly runs) does. Errr, no way...

Walked home from work and legs feel pretty ok so I'm going for it in the morning - W1R2 here I come!!!

Lol I did w1r2 last night and my thighs ache like mad especially walking down stairs!

I also have a pencil thin bruise running up the front of my thigh along the edge of my 'thigh muscle' (sure its got a name!) No pain tho. Not sure if that's normal but I'm gonna do r3 tomorrow anyway and see what happens!
