Traveling with COPD: Hi I am new here I have... - COPD Friends
Traveling with COPD
Hello and welcome, are you on oxygen because would have to be considered, also your travel insurance would be more expensive best bet is to ask about these things before you book. They may want you to do a fit to fly test depending on bad your COPD IS.. Im not trying to put you off put you do need to consider these things if you don't manage to get to Mexico I would certainly recommend the Greek Islands, lovely places and the people are so friendly. I hope this helps and I really hope you get your dream of visiting Mexico. Let us know how you get on and where you decide to go. Have a lovely day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
I have been to Mexico since having COPD, if you are on Oxygen that could be a problem, but if your COPD isn't too severe there should be no problem. We had booked for the Pacific Coast of Mexico last year, but it got cancelled twice, we have just booked again to go in December, so are keeping our fingers crossed it doesn't get cancelled again, we are hoping to be there for our 25th wedding anniversary. We prefer the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean side of Mexico, but it's just a matter of choice, I suppose. The hotel we stayed in a few years ago is the Riu Vallarta, and I must say that the food there was absolutely out of this world, the staff were lovely, and it was one of the best holidays we have ever had, hence the reason why we are so keen to get back there.
Another consideration is the travel insurance, which has gone sky high since covid. We managed to get ours through a site called Money and Pensions Service, which is a UK government site, they recommend insurance companies for those of us who have pre-existing conditions, but all the quotes were high.
Do let us know how you get on with booking and insurance etc. And do post some pics when you get back home.
Thank you so much for your advice. We have been once before but that was 23 years ago and i didnt have COPD. We are planning to go in March when its not too hot and its not too humid.
Should be very nice in March, last time we went was in May, which was a bit hot, but we don't do much anyway, as we have mobility issues too, so it's mainly relaxing by the pool for us. Hope you have a lovely time.
