I have mild asthma and diagnosed with moderate Copd a number of years ago. I use a Spiriva respimat inhaler each morning to control phlegm which works pretty well. I walk the dog regularly to keep reasonably fit but I have to take it slowly up hills these days as I will run out of breath.

If you do things in moderation up to comfortable limits life’s a breeze. Certainly nothing to get uptight about as the progression of the disease is thankfully slow.

You can still live your life, you may just have to slow down the pace a bit at times.

I use my maintenance inhaler every day, and I carry a rescue inhaler just in case.

I take gingko biloba every day to help with memory.

What is gingko biloba

It's an herbal supplement. It is supposed to help support healthy circulation, memory, and mental focus.

My memory still sucks, but it doesn't seem to suck as bad as it used to.

Thank you where can you get it

Pretty much anywhere vitamins are sold. I buy mine at Wal-Mart, but you should probably check with your doctor before taking these (or any supplements).

I tell dr when I take supplements seems totally disinterested

You could look up drug interactions on the internet . Some ( quite a few) supplements interact with prescribed medications .

Hello

I have sever COPD and sever ASTHMA but using Spiriva and Symbicort I've kept my illness at bay. Sure life is at a slower pace but I dont worry as much as I did as I believe God has a plan for me.

I've never had any infection so I'm not sure how I would handle it. I have a great VA doctor here in the states. I also go to a pulmonary rehab class you should consider joining.

I'm over weight and am exercising for life. Though we will not lose our illness we can make it so we can continue in a restful way.

Gods Blessings

You're welcome, energy1! While my brother and I were able to get along he also was diagnosed with emphysema and passed away 3 years ago in October. I prefer to think of him as he was alive- that's how I want people to think of me when I am gone.

Now that you have the diagnosis you know what to battle. I had a terrible 2019 too and I am determined to make this year a better one.

Here's to us!🥂

Hi I too have asthma and diagnosed with emphysema last week . I’ve had shortness of breath for 2 years which was different to my usual asthma and my gp thought it was my asthma . I had to push to be referred to respiratory. I suspected I had copd but was shocked as I’m only 43 .

My breathing is now better after being put on pulmicort and increased symbicort .

Last week I felt so depressed but this week I am feeling better I think it takes time for diagnosis to sink in . Everyone here has really brought me comfort and hope that I can live a normal life x
