Throat problems

First let me clarify that I am faithful to rinse and gargle after all treatments.

I started to have throat problems after I had been taking the Flovent inhaler for a while. I'm not sure I can describe it very well, but it feels almost like there's a spot that's gravelly and sometimes just the action of my throat coming together will set off a coughing spell. It also seems to catch food sometimes and set off a coughing fit. When I say food, I mean things like trying to swallow peanuts I have chewed up, or sometimes flakes of pepper. Does anyone recognize any of my weird symptoms and/or have any suggestions?

I brought this up with my doctor a couple of years ago and even mentioned some medications I'd read about for this, but he more or less ignored me.

Often, if I have an exacerbation it's brought on by this throat deal rather than by any inability to get air initially.

I do have throat problems with the Flovent, but is mostly hoarseness or like a “frog “ in my throat. The Flovent does help me a lot, so I don’t want to give it up. What medications did you hear of to help with this? I find cough drops help some.

I no longer remember what the meds were that were suggested to me for this problem.
