I been hearing about NAC for mucus. I am concerned if it is safe to use. I have bronchitis brought on by acid reflux. The problem continues and so far treatment has not restored my health.

NAC
I take 600mg of NAC twice daily and have suffered no ill effect, nor have I read about them in others at reasonable doses. I believe it has been greatly Helpful in reducing symtoms, would not do without. Strongly suggest you research online the benefits. Also look into other natural therapies for immune strengthening. Pnuemonia was becoming a chronic condition for me, then I began a routine including medicinal mushrooms, such as cordyceps, reshi, chaga, have not had a sniffle since last fall. Med free.
Thanks for sharing your experience .
I was diagnosed with Bronchiolitis Obliterans in 2013 and was given NAC 600mg twice daily. It definitely reduced my symptoms of mucus and cough. I feel it was also helpful in stabilizing my condition for an additional three years. However, I began to decline rapidly after a couple of pneumothorax incidences and received a bilateral lung transplant in January 2017. It is definitely worth trying, but I would check with your pulmonologist first. Each of us are very different in how our “chemical makeup” will respond.
My pulmonary doctor just put me on it, she said it works for some and not others. I take 600 mg twice day and I do think it is working better then mucinex. If you aren't treating the acid reflex then nothing is going to help the mucus. I take over the counter Prevacid 30 mg twice a day for this, it sure does help.
My doctor does not put much stock in NAC. I read about it and then when I asked him he does not think I should go that route.
What is NAC?
