So for the past few months I've had blood everytime ive passed a bowel movement. I then started to experience diarrhea when my bowel movement first starts then it go solid.The blood also appears to be on the poo and not mixed in, except for the diarrhea that is red/brown colour. I also pass blood/liquid when I fart as well. The blood is always bright red, and I am in no pain whatsoever. I went to the doctors who suspected it to be hemmeroids, I was prescribed Anusol with steroids but this made no difference. The blood is always worse when I have to force a poo which also points to hemmeroids but do the cause diarrhea? She has now referred me to a specialist just because of how long its been going on. I'm worried out my mind that its cancer, but I am only 26F. Has anyone experienced this and could help me? I'm just waiting for a referral letter from the hospital. Thank you for reading.

I went through this. It wasn’t for a month straight but on and off. After a year like this (worried out of my mind because I too was convinced without a shadow of a doubt that I had cancer) I finally got insurance after enrollment and got my colonoscopy. Ended up being 2nd degree hemorrhoids and Dr took out two polyps. In the last year I’m sure I’ve read every article on colon cancer and from what I can gather blood by itself isn’t a good indicator of colon cancer. All the symptoms aren’t clear indicators, most people diagnosed with colon cancer had absolutely no symptoms. Get a colonoscopy it will put your mind at ease. If you don’t have a family history of colon cancer and your age put you at very low risk. Good luck and don’t fret too much.
MJG956 , thank you for posting. You are correct that the most common symptom people with colorectal cancer experience is... no symptoms at all!
I'm so glad you were screened and that the doctor removed polyps. Colorectal cancer is unique from most other cancers in that with regular screening, you can in most cases prevent cancer from developing, or treat it very early on.
How often will you be getting a colonoscopy did your doctor say?
That's good that you know your screening interval of five years. Keep on top of your screenings and be sure that your family members are aware that you had polyps removed (did the dr say if they were cancerous or pre-cancerous?). It is great that you had polyps removed before they had the chance to become life-threatening, but it is important for family history that other members of your family know, and tell their doctors (because they might want to screen them earlier or more often than what's typical).

Hi I had these same symptoms - getting progressively worse and me getting progressively worried! Anusol did nothing, eventually had a colonoscopy which showed up haemaroids. They banded then during the colonoscopy but unfortunately that didn’t get rid, so they used laser treatment on them a few months later and the bleeding immediately stopped. Like the other reply I had done so much googling in a panicked state, but they are completely correct in that bleeding alone is much more likely to be haemaroids.
Hi Rebeccaloui94 ,Thanks for posting and I'm sorry to hear what you are going through - it can cause a lot of anxiety to see blood when using the toilet.
Did the doctor that you already saw examine you? Typically they would perform a digital exam (with their fingers) to determine if they can feel/see anything in the anal/rectal area.
Bright red blood can often be caused by hemorrhoids but anytime someone experiences bleeding, we always recommend going to get checked out by a doctor. There are so many possible reasons for your symptoms, try not to get too freaked out about what it could be.
Hoping that you'll get that referral letter soon and can have a full examination by a specialist.
Hi, thank you for replying! No my doctor didn't do a finger exam just tried the anusol cream and when I went back and said it hasn't helped she referred me straight away so I was worried out my mind then. I've calmed myself in thinking it probably is hemorrhoids, due to the bright red blood always worse when I have to force a stool. I've always been a bit IBS so wondering if the diarrhea is related to that and its just both problems in one.
I'm glad you were referred to a specialist. Don't let that referral stress you out more, it is actually a good thing because I always think it is better to be examined by a specialist rather than a general practitioner when you are experiencing specific symptoms.
Yeah I agree and not 100% sure yet I have to go for blood tests tommorow just incase they ask for them then they already have them ready. She sent of my referral letter so hopefully won't be waiting too long! Due to covid, in the UK a lot of things are either on hold or massive back log so will have to see! You've reassured me a lot and just talking and ready that other people have experienced the same really does help. I'm still hopeful this is hemorrhoids and everything does point to it being that. Hi, no colonoscopy yet. Still waiting on referral, stopped a lot due to Covid. They said they will contact me when an appointment is available. Still experiencing the same symptoms as I previously said.

Keep in mind, you are doing all the right things by having doctor appointments and getting additional testing. Chances are, and we hope that it is something minor that can be controlled by medication or diet changes, but the only way to know for certain is to continue forward with the testing.
