Continued Journey

I am home. I was released on Tuesday day+19. Yes, this is a significant earlier leave of hospital care than expected. The last day was busier than expected. I had an infusion of magnesium and RBCs. The Red Blood Cells was to move up anticipation of coming back on Thursday; labs, possible RBC infusion, and clinic. I had the time.

Drs. We’re confident that my ANC jump from 500 to 1900 to 5000 normal range. Red Blood Cells went from 1 to 1.8 to 3.0, platelets 9-14-18, many of my numbers in other specifics are in normal ranges. The specifics like platelets and RBC normally lag. Yet everything is heading in an upward trend where it needs and decline where necessary (kidney function).

This does not mean that I’m out of the woods free and clear. I have to exercise significant keep safe protocols. Wear a mask when I go downstairs (basement) or garage. Dust, molds other environment unfriendly elements. If I pet our cat, wash my hands soon after. Fresh fruit and vegetables, even organic must be thoroughly washed. And the medication regiment is significant, with so many and how often, most 2-3 times daily. I have Doctors appointments at least twice a week for the next two months. They want/need to monitor your progress closely.

My side affects have been fatigue and significant edema in legs. Makes it really hard to move about (two story house). Recently, I have diarrhea, I was told take Imodium if it doesn’t work it’s a sign of GVHD ( Graft Versus Host Disease) and they will treat it differently.

All in all things are going well. It was bittersweet to leave Wilmot because the people are so great. However, I’m elevated to be home. I want to add my wife is a guardian ANGEL!!!

Home and loved ones…the greatest healers of all! Glad you’re home and best wishes for the continued excellent progress you’ve made so far. I suspect you’ve spared us the awful bits however 😉

Yes, a little bit. However, it was a lot smoother sailing than I anticipated. I did have some dry heaves yesterday. And as I commented to another responder the edema is significant in my legs and feet causing discomfort and fatigue especially as I try to walk for exercise.

So glad you are home and things are stabilizing. It is a pain - but I have mild edema (unless I fly and then sometimes a lot of edema in the legs) and I wear support hose. I don't like wearing them in the summer as it is hot but I do. I even got some cute ones with hearts on them so I don't feel like a fuddy dudddy. All the best to you and continued healing.

Presently within a half hour of getting up my legs and feet balloon up.. I’m wearing support hoe which helps. It still feels like I’ve added a couple of pounds to each leg. It adds to the fatigue factor as I do try to walk. I’ve been assured by the medical team this will resolve itself in a few weeks.

I hope it does. You have enough going on without another condition to tend to. Best to you.
